New life has been given to a classic home in the Lake Spivey community south of Atlanta. The home at 3123 Pier II, Lake Spivey sits on the edge of Lake Spivey. At 600 acres it is the largest private lake community in the Atlanta Metro area. In what has been a labor of love for realtor Stephanie Burt, a nearly two year adventure is coming to an amazing climax and for the first time a home in that community has been completely renovated and is on the market for sale.
According to Ms. Burt, many home owners of the exquisite homes on the lake have done private renovations for themselves but no one has ever taken on the task of completely remodeling an existing home and then putting it on the market for sale.
Stephanie Burt came to Atlanta 11 years ago to work for Keller Williams Atlanta Partners and has been with them ever since. After being assigned to sell the home for the original owner, the house at 3123 became her personal project.
“The home was originally built in the early 1980’s and when we put it on the market two years ago it didn’t move at all even though it has one of the best views of Lake Spivey. The owner had not done any renovations in all that time and the best way to describe it is was ‘80’s Fabu’ “, says Ms. Burt.
The original owner decided to sell to an investor after no buyers came forward in nearly two years and Ms. Burt was then tasked to bring this 80’s classic into the 21st century. Starting in July of 2017 she began the remodeling process.
“Since day one, I have always seen the potential of this home. A diamond in the rough, if you will. I had a long list of prospective buyers always calling me asking for a renovated home under a million dollars that was on the waterfront”.
Now she had the chance to make one family’s dreams come true. At 3400 sq. ft. the two level home was remodeled from top to bottom. With a master bedroom and three additional bedrooms, she says that this home would be ideal for a new family just starting out, retirees, or as a peaceful weekend getaway away from the city.
The Lake Spivey community has been around since the late 1950’s and is considered by many as a hidden jewel in the metro area. The area was known as a concert venue back in the 1960’s and 1970’s with the likes of B.B King, Tina Turner, and Chicago playing at the lake. It was also known for its water skiing shows and swim competitions. Today it is known for its peaceful tranquility and for the white cranes and ducks that inhabit the area.
Ms. Burt’s design vision of the home’s potential is clearly visible throughout the entire redesign of the home. From the wood accents in the ceiling beams in the great room downstairs, the handmade fireplace mantles in the master bedroom and great room, the rebuilt staircase, to the rebuilt two level deck overlooking the lake on the backside of the house the mixture of 21st century sleek still gives way to a classic “homey” feeling. The house also boasts custom cabinets in a brand new kitchen, new hardwood flooring, and brand new carpets in all four bedrooms. It has a two-car garage and a separate boat garage as well as a dock on the lake directly behind the house.
Even though the biggest change made was opening up the floor plan on the first level of the home, Ms. Burt believes that the lakeside view that the home gives is still its greatest feature.
“Imagine waking up every morning, opening up the sliding glass door from the master bedroom, stepping out onto the deck and watching the sun rise over the lake. It’s amazing and even better on the Fourth of July when you can sit on the deck and watch the firework display from the comfort of your own home”!
